DR. BHUWANESH KUMAR SHARMA
Assistant Professor

Dr. Sharma is currently working as a Assistant Professor for Chemistry and Plastic and Polymer Engineering subjects at the School of Engineering, Plastindia International University, Vapi, Gujarat. He has obtained his Ph.D. (Tech) degree in Polymer Engineering and Technology from the esteemed and well reputed Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT; Erstwhile UDCT/UICT-Bombay), Mumbai campus in 2017.
He was awarded for UGC-Basic Science Research Fellowship by ICT and UGC for his doctoral program. He pursued his doctoral research work in radiation processing of thermoplastic elastomer blends and composites for high temperature and radiation resistant applications in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) at Vashi Complex, Navi Mumbai. He has also done his 3 years Post-doctoral research in EVA and POE elastomers as encapsulants for Solar PV module at IIT-Bombay from 2017 to 2020.

He pursued M.Tech. degree in Plastic Engineering from CIPET-Lucknow in 2009-10 and M.Sc. degree in Chemical Science from Poddar college, Nawalgarh, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan in 2006.

Dr. Sharma has also obtained the industrial exposures in Alok Masterbatch Limited in 2009 and Gharda Chemical Limited-Mumbai in 2017. He has worked for more than 3.5 years as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry at Ganpat University, Shroff-Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology (SRICT) and School of Sciences, P P Savani University from 2021 to 2024 academic years. He is involved in industrial consultancies for the application and property development in plastic, rubber and fibre sectors. He has published numerous research and review articles in Scopus/Web of Science/Thomson Reuter indexed scientific journals. Recently, The Indian Patent Office, Govt. of India, has granted a patent to Dr. Sharma and IIT-Bombay team for their invention in EVA co-polymer for solar PV module application.

He has done peer review for various research papers and completed more than 60 assignments for Journal of Applied Polymer Science (JAPS). He has also published book chapters on Radiation processed Applied biomaterials and Polymers for Biomedical application in Springer NATURE. His keen research areas are Polymer blends and composite, Biodegradable Plastic/Bioplastic, Radiation processing of polymers for advanced applications, crosslinked polymers, Hydrogels, Green synthesis, Nanomaterials synthesis, and Elastomers for solar PV module application.
